Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Vigernette (vigernette.com) handles personal data when you visit the site or contact the team. It applies to this website and the enquiries made through it. It does not cover third-party sites you may reach from links here.
The sections below set out what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you. The current version on this page applies, dated September 2026.
Plate 01 — The document, its backing, its margin
Read this page as you would a manual plate: each rule holds one kind of data, one purpose, one retention limit.
What this policy covers, in plain order
Vigernette helps drivers plan car journeys across Austria, read motorway corridors, and understand toll and vignette context with map-based guidance. To do that we handle very little personal data — mainly what you send when you contact us, plus basic technical records that keep the site working.
Use the ledger below as an index. Each row opens the full passage further down the page, so you can check a single question without reading the whole manual.
How to use this page
Twelve short passages, each with one job. Start with the operator and the data list, then check purposes, cookies, sharing, and your rights.
Identity and scope
Who operates this site
Vigernette is an independent route-planning resource for drivers in Austria. It is not a government body, a toll operator or a booking service. The operator of the site is the entity responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
Contact details for privacy requests are given at the end of this document. Any request about your data should be directed there, so the correct records can be located without delay. Links from here to third-party sites are outside this policy.
What data is collected
The site may collect information you provide directly, such as the name and contact details you enter when contacting the team, along with the content of your message.
- Direct input Name, email address, and message text from the contact form or email you send.
- Automatic records IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, recorded to keep the site stable and to see which route guides are used.
- Scope limit The precise set depends on how you use the site. Data that is not needed for the purposes below is not collected deliberately.
Why the data is used
Personal data is used to respond to enquiries, to operate and maintain the site, to understand how the site is used so it can be improved, and to meet legal obligations where they apply.
Contact details are not used to send marketing messages without your agreement. Where data is used for a purpose beyond these, that purpose is stated at the point it is collected or in an update to this policy. Practical examples include answering a question about a corridor description, fixing a broken route page, or keeping a record that an enquiry was resolved.
Legal basis
Where data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, the site relies on the basis that fits the activity: your consent where you have given it, the performance of a request you have made such as answering an enquiry, the legitimate interest in operating and improving the site, and compliance with legal obligations.
The basis used depends on the specific processing. Questions about the basis for a particular use can be directed to the contact below.

Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies
The site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate correctly and to understand how visitors use it. The cookie policy explains the categories used and how you can control them through your browser.
Continuing to use the site indicates your acknowledgement of that policy. You can change or withdraw consent through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended if cookies are disabled.

Sharing and disclosure
Personal data is not sold. It may be shared with service providers who help operate the site, such as hosting or analytics providers, and who process data on the site's behalf and under appropriate terms.
Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it or where it is necessary to protect the rights of the site or its users. Any sharing is limited to what the relevant purpose needs.
Retention, security, and care
Data is kept only while it is needed, guarded with reasonable measures, and never kept for its own sake. The rows below state how long each kind of record lasts and how it is protected.
A note on route data
Route pages do not ask for your location, number plate, or travel dates. If such detail appears in a message you send, it is used only to answer that message and then removed on the retention rule above.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have rights to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent you have given.
Requests can be made using the contact details below, and a response will be given within the time the applicable law allows. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Access the data held about you
Ask what personal data Vigernette holds about you, for instance copies of enquiry messages and when they were received. Include the email address you wrote from so the correct records can be found.
Correction and deletion
Ask to fix an incorrect name or contact detail, or to delete an enquiry thread once it is resolved. Where the law requires a record to be kept, the policy explains why rather than deleting silently.
Restrict, object, and portability
You can ask to restrict certain processing, object to processing based on legitimate interest, or receive the data you provided in a portable form. Each request is checked against what the site actually stores.
Withdraw consent
Where processing relied on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time through the contact below or through browser controls for cookies. Withdrawal applies from that point forward.

A short policy, kept to its word
Vigernette collects little, uses it only to answer and to keep the guides accurate, and removes it when the job is done. If anything here needs clarifying, the team will explain it directly.
Closing note
This page is the current policy. For everyday route questions, return to the corridor guides and checklists — for anything about your data, write to the address above and it will be handled within the time the law allows.
